Carron Valley
Unwanted tree felling

The tree carnage was extencive at CV today, it was a case of ride a few yards, humph your bike over a tree, then do it again.
It was quite buisy today & I tried to let as many people know how the trail was, but, some of them tried the climbs anyway.

This was what it was like most of the way up to the 'Cannonball Run', some sections of the climb were so unpassable that I had to take a significant de-tour to get past the tree's.
I'm not sure when they will be cleared, but, it will take a good few chainsaws to get the job done.
So if your planning a trip there, be prepared for a long slow climb & bike carrying.
On the other side of the coin
The Forestry Commision has felled tree's galore in quite a lot of sections. The original 'Pipedream' climb now looks like this....

It is a shame really, but who are we to complain?
The 'Cannonball Run' looks like this from the new climb....

I have a feeling not many people will like this, shreding through the tree's is what made this trail so much fun, well, to me it did.
In my view, this contributed to the high winds knocking down so many tree's on Hogmanay, the tree's that were knocked down were the tree's that were once protected by the tree's that the FC have felled.

How nice is that!! Stevie-L showing us how it's done.
And following Stevie-L is myself, then, the dreaded flat strikes again.....

I am now the proud owner of a pair of Maxxis DH tubes & they perform perfectly on this trail, no flats so far!
