WorkShop stuff
Here there will be banter about what we get upto in the WorkShop (WS) on a Thursday night. We usualy listen to tunes while we fix/fit bits to bikes or we just sit & watch Mountain Biking DVD's or we spend hours just talking bikes.
Not a Thusday but what the.....
Eh? Another new bike?
For the past 3 weeks I've had this bug & some sort of growth on my back (maybe I'm a gremlin?), but apart from that, I've got this new bike & the weather has been unbelievably bad....
I've tried to get out on it for the past 2 weeks, so I'm heading down to Glentress next Sunday to try my hand at the Red Freeride, which incadentaly is now all Orange grade Bike Park....
The new Curved Wall Ride on the (Blue) route is looking Very good & there have been posts planted for some North Shore, so here's inpatiently waiting.....

DMR Drone Reptoid with 24" wheels....

Ooooh! Look! Surf's got himself a single speed....
It's my new bike!

The Full Bomb...Cherry that is.

It's powered by Truvativ Cranks, V8 peddles, Sram 9'spd chain & Cassette & has 4" of travel which is sprung with a Manituo Metel RP (I had to buy a 350lb spring from TFTuned)

And I control it with a Big stick....

The Da Bomb stem has very nice CNC'd lines....

ODI Ruffian grips give loads of.....grip, while the Juicy 3's still need beding in.
And it all runs on the new DMR Pro wheels....

Which are BLING!

The new DMR Pro Backline wheels are wide at 35mm....

....which make the Larsen TT's sit qiute square

Da Bomb's Mortar seat post holds a DB seat....

i must get a Chain stay protector before I waste these graphics.
3rd January 2008
It was a great night in the Workshop, showing each other what we got for Christmas this year.

This tidy peice of work bellongs to Stevie's 55's, a very nice detail!

This lever is the winding end of the 20mm Maxle, on the other end is....

a nice & tidy threaded end that fits like a glove when the wheel is inserted.
Me, I got these beauties....

5/10 Low Impact shoes, very grippy on my flats.

& Stevie got me this new Crud Catcher for my new Big Hit 3.
(note : Stevie's dirty Big Hit & other bikes like Johnny's Big Betty tyre thats on his Orange 7+ with stevie's BMX in red)
All this fiddling with parts is hungry work so....

we made some chicken to go with our Red Bull.
25th August
I took Dawn up to the WS today to help me with my new bike & let her see how to fit parts, I gave her a v.i.p. job to do, cleaning my Sram X9 Super Short derailer, it was manky after Fort Bill, but, man did she do a great job!
I fitted it to my NEW Big Hit 3 as the one that was fitted was the wrong length :-
Rule-of-Thumb :
Single front ring - Short to Super short
Double front ring - Meduim
Triple front ring - Long
I also changed the Sram X7 shifter for my X9 & also fitted a new gear cable as the one that was fitted had been badly cut.
All this work gave me a real good look over the little things, like the welding & alignment of parts.

Truvativ Howitzer Team Bottom Bracket

Blackspire DS-1 Guide & Bash (note the bearings in the roller)

Fox DHX3 rear shock 400lb spring
Check out the quality of that welding! Amazing!

'06 888VF with....

the Flat Crown note the Avid Juicy 5's

And it all runs on Mavic EX325 rims.
I also fitted other parts that were on my DH8, just for the 'keep it familiar' feeling.
I had thought about cutting my seat tube down, but, this has been a hot topic of late, 'How Low' should your seat be on a DH rig?
11th January
As you may notice, it's always a Thursday on this page, so thats why I just put the date. There was a hive of activity last night, Stevie changed the rear tyre, fitted the brake rotors, removed the rear wheel, brake levers & calipers from the Hardtail, while I fitted the Shimano Alivio F&R gear pods to the Marin.

After this, we set up the rear shock by the usual way, I sit on the seat (usual riding posision) to get the sag settings, then pump more air into the shock until I get the correct sag.
Meanwhile, Stevie got stuck into his Hardtail for a little bit of tinkering....

It is looking nice though, innit!
